 West Metropolitan Regional Cricket Council

Purpose: To facilitate and co-ordinate the activities of the region with those of the local associations and clubs and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of those activities in the most efficient manner.

The West Metropolitan Cricket Council is a body that represents the collective needs of cricket in the West Metropolitan region. This document provides an outline of the roles and responsibilities of the council. It is an evolving document to be reviewed annually to ensure the Council remains relevant to, and representative of the needs of the region.
A central aim of the Region Council is to assist the Regional Cricket Manager with talent identification and development of female and male cricketers, and selection of squads for the Commonwealth Bank Pathway program. 

Association Delegates & Representatives:

-         North West Cricket Association                   (Mr. Terry Scott)

-         Western Suburbs United Cricket Association (Mr. Geoff Gook / Mr. Claude Dunn)

-         Melton Junior Cricket Association                 (Mr. Chris Pleitner)

-         Victorian Turf Cricket Association                 (Mr. Adam Wilcock)

-         Victorian Sub District Cricket Association

-         Victorian Premier Cricket (Footscray Edgewater CC)

-         Victorian Women’s Cricket Association

Regional Director: The Regional director will sit on the VMCU Board to represent the West Metropolitan region at VMCU board meetings, delegates meetings, and Annual General Meetings. The Regional Director will serve a maximum term of 2 years. This position attracts a current honorarium of $500.

Secretary: The Regional Cricket Manager will assume the role of Council Secretary and be responsible for the notification of meetings, agenda preparation and recording / distributing minutes at all meetings. The RCM will also provide a report to the council on all Cricket Victoria activities and programs.  

Chairman: The Chairman will provide direction by chairing meetings whilst assisting the secretary (RCM) with the identification of agenda topics etc. The position of Chairman should rotate on an annual basis to allow for maximum representation. The Regional Director may extend his / her role to include the role of Chairman if approved by the region council.

Council Members:
-          To represent your association clubs when discussing regional issues at the region council.
-          To gather ideas, thoughts, comments, queries or complaints that relate to regional issues from your member clubs and present them at region council meetings.
-          To report back to your Association Executive issues raised or outcomes reached at region council meetings.

Council Membership:
The Regional Cricket Council shall be made up by Association delegates that represent the cricketing interests of the players, members, supporters and families of every club within the Region.

The delegates who are elected are accountable to their Association and clubs for the effective functioning of their Region and the appropriate use of the resources made available to the Region by Cricket Victoria.  This can only be achieved through a collaborative effort between the Regional Cricket Manager and the Region Council.

Associations who have clubs additionally in other regions  would be entitled to attend meetings on behalf of those clubs but will have no voting rights on the Council.

Meeting Frequency:
Three pre-determined meetings per year will be held as below. Further meetings may be organised as deemed necessary by Regional Director / Chairman or Regional Cricket Manager.
